Walkability expert Mark Fenton to visit Columbus
Mark Fenton, a nationally recognized walking advocate and Public Health, Planning and Transportation Consultant, will once again visit Columbus in March 2018. Mark's tagline is "engineering physical activity back into American communities and lives" because he helps communities like ours to design our built environment to encourage more active forms of transportation, like walking and biking.
Fenton has visited Columbus on numerous occasions and in 2016 was involved in community workshops to inform the design of Westenedge Drive and Taylor Road. On his upcoming visit to Columbus, he will speak at The Columbus Park Foundation's annual meeting on March 7th at 5:30pm at Hamilton Center. He will also be involved in workshops with students at Parkside Elementary as part of a Safe Kids Bartholomew County traffic calming project.
To see an example of Mark Fenton in action, watch this video of his explanation of the premise of healthy community design; why we need it, and what it takes to get there.
We're looking forward to Fenton's visit and hope that he helps inspire our community to continue to make changes that make the healthy choice the easy choice.
