Walk the Positivity Path in Mill Race Park

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that exercise and being out in nature can improve not only your physical well-being but your mental well-being, too. WALKtober (Walking Month) is a great opportunity for our community to become more active. We're excited that this year we have also found a way to promote awareness of the importance of physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle and positive coping mechanisms for mental health and recovery from substance misuse disorders.


The Positivity Path is a 1-mile walking loop through Mill Race Park, around the round lake and north through the wooded area, that features signs (like the one shown above) with positive messages about mental health and substance abuse recovery. This project was created in partnership with the Columbus Parks & Recreation Department and sponsored by Project Prevent through the Heritage Fund - Community Foundation of Bartholomew County. We hope that the Positivity Path will provide hope for people struggling with their mental health and those going through recovery. 

By creating opportunities for the community to move more, get connected with like-minded individuals and share knowledge of great walking routes, it is hoped that the Positivity Path and other WALKtober activities will help our community move down the path to greater well-being.
